History of Trinity

Since 1969, Trinity Presbyterian Church has served Spring Valley and the surrounding communities through our preschool, which is founded on providing a nurturing, loving environment for the youngest learners as they are introduced to basic skills. Trinity Christian Preschool was founded by Ruth Cargile and has had four directors: Lynnea Loveberg, Connie Wilson, Mary Foust, and Sharlene Park.

In 1978, a committee from Trinity Church formed to study the feasibility of establishing an elementary school. In September of 1980, Trinity Christian School opened with just 10 students (grades K-2) under the leadership of teacher/principal Sally Sweat. In 1981, the school expanded to 60 students, combining grades up to the sixth. Sharlene Park became the principal, a position she held for thirty years until her retirement in June of 2011.

In September 2004, Trinity expanded to include grades seven and eight so that a Christian school experience is now available for children ages three through 13. The past few years have seen a new generation, with former students sending their own children to our school. Two graduates of Trinity, Joy Ross Lopez (junior high) and Rachelle Salas (preschool), have returned to teach.

From our early beginnings until now, we have been a school of prayer, continually seeking God for our strength, support, and wisdom. We have built our faith as we have built our school, and we seek to continue in these traditions as we follow wholeheartedly after our Savior and Lord, educating children for the glory of God.

What is Serve-a-Thon?
TCS hosts an annual serve-a-thon in lieu of a jog-a-thon or other fundraiser. We raise money for the school and serve our community. (1 Peter 4:10)
